Johnny Moore's Blazers featuring Charles Brown: "Merry Christmas, Baby"

Exclusive, 1947.  (Somewhat complicated story, actually.  Some sources claim that Leon Rene produced this for his West Coast independent label, but it also showed up on Jack Lauderdale's Swingtime label.  Later John Dolphin purchased the masters for Hollywood.  After that Rene, who became an A & R man for Cincinatti's King brought this and similar numbers out on a perennially popular LP--dig the cool cover art above. More complications: Publishing credits Johnny Moore and Lou Baxter.  Brown claimed Baxter brought him the idea for the song and that Brown totally revamped it.   Learn more at this link.)
